How do you stand out in a lazy industry?
The market was saturated with hammock companies offering cheaper products and larger selections, focusing on price, quality, or variety. The imagery was mostly generic stock photos of beaches and relaxation. In the US, hard work is valued above all, and relaxation is often frowned upon. In Nicaragua, despite poverty, political corruption, and volcanoes, daily hammock naps are common—a small act of rebellion.
We positioned naps as an act of defiance against the grind, creating taglines like “Nap Like An Outlaw!” and crafted six premium hammock designs inspired by Latin American history, emphasizing authenticity and quality over quantity. Despite having only 6 styles and higher prices, we carved out a successful niche online. The overwhelming feedback among our clients was that they chose us because of our humor and bold styles. We made a bland industry feel like a tiny act of rebellion.
